Job Summary
Own the mechanical architecture and detailed design of next-generation X-ray detectors, creating and maintaining CAD models, detailed drawings, and BOMs in SolidWorks. Plan and execute validation and verification for mechanical subsystems while designing manufacturing jigs and fixtures for in-house production teams. Collaborate closely with electronics, firmware, systems, manufacturing, and product management teams to support prototyping, pilot builds, and testing, iterating designs based on feedback. Work with the procurement team to identify, assess, and qualify suppliers throughout the full product lifecycle from concept development to production handover.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of relevant mechanical design experience with a track record of bringing products from concept to production
- Strong proficiency in SolidWorks or a comparable 3D CAD platform
- Experience designing parts for a variety of manufacturing processes including CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication and additive manufacturing
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to coordinate technical requirements across multidisciplinary teams in both onsite and remote environments
- Professional working proficiency in English
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
Desired Qualifications
- Experience designing enclosures for electronics with high thermal loads, EMC considerations, and ingress protection requirements
- Understanding of thermal management techniques for electronics (convection, conduction, forced air, liquid cooling)
- Experience performing FEA and thermal simulations
- Experience with GD&T and tolerance analysis
