Job Summary
Design and develop deployment systems and associated mechanisms for CubeSats through test and delivery, translating system-level requirements into designs. Author drawings, assembly documentation, and test plans while collaborating with the Program Manager to define project objectives, timelines, and deliverables. Work within multidisciplinary teams to optimize system performance and reliability, utilizing parametric CAD software and SolidWorks or Creo skills. Manage challenging vibration, shock, and temperature environments for aerospace structures. This role supports Toyon Research Corporation's Aerospace Systems Group in providing innovative technical solutions for Department of Defense programs.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship
- Ability to qualify for a US Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance
- SAP and SCI program eligibility
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 5 or more years of experience designing mechanisms and structures encountering challenging vibration, shock, and temperature environments
- Experience with the various elements of mechanical design and drafting, including selection of structural materials, adhesive and fastener selection
- Familiarity with AMSE y14.5 and other relevant ASME drafting standards
- Familiarity with ISO 9001/AS9100/MIL Specifications as they apply to aerospace structures
- Experience using parametric CAD software to create models of assemblies, parts and drawings
