Job Summary
Design and implement custom infrastructure for Skyfall printing system, including state-of-the-art thermal management (chillers), industrial plumbing, and high-flow gas delivery; develop and integrate factory performance monitoring systems using sensors and data acquisition (DAQ) to ensure real-time visibility into utility health, pressure levels, and flow rates; oversee utilities (power, process water, industrial gases like nitrogen and argon) in strict accordance with safety codes; define and implement preventive maintenance for facilities equipment (pumps, compressors, HVAC) to optimize operational efficiency and minimize downtime with automation opportunities; secure availability of specialized fluid system components and high-pressure fittings to sustain rapid infrastructure build-outs and engineering projects; collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to scale the hardware stack; required strong fundamentals in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer, hands-on ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical and fluid systems; proficiency with 3D CAD (SolidWorks, NX or similar) is a plus; experience with EHS practices (NFPA 55) and ISO 9001/industrial compliance beneficial; based in Hawthorne, onsite five days a week; relocation assistance provided.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
- 2+ years of facilities engineering, factory engineering, launch/ground systems engineering or similar experience
- Strong first principles understanding of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer
- Hands-on ability to troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical and fluid systems
