Job Summary

Design and develop low and mid-volume industrial products using injection molding, sheet metal forming, and machining while gathering voice of customer information and generating technical specifications. Drive all aspects of design and development, including mechanical design, material selection, tolerance analysis, and creating design review packets for presentation. Coordinate tests with technicians, interpret data, and create drawing packages, costed BOMs, and product specifications while managing documentation release through PLM guidelines. Support products post-launch with FAI, VA/VE, and sustaining activities. Work cross-functionally with Global Technology groups, Product & Business Development, Approvals, Operations, and Supply to identify vendors and transfer designs to manufacturing.

Required Qualifications

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 2+ years' experience in mechanical design
  • MS/PhD may be considered in lieu of some experience
  • Designing sheet metal, machined and injection molded parts
  • Top down assembly design – how, when and why
  • DFM/DFA and ease of installation in the field
  • Engineering drawing creation to drafting standards
  • Extensive experience with MCAD design software
  • Experience with PLM software
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Reading and interpreting Standards (IEC, UL, CSA, etc.) and translating them into design requirements and test plans
  • Prototyping and iterating
  • Ability to define and set up mechanical tests
  • Ability to define and set up electrical tests
  • Report writing and seminar presentations to a wide audience
  • Globally distributed workforce
  • Flexible hybrid 3+ days on-site
  • Ability to travel internationally 10%

Desired Qualifications

  • Other degrees will be considered with relevant Design or Product Development experience
  • knowledge of GD&T is a bonus
  • SolidWorks preferred
  • Dassault Enovia preferred
