Job Summary
Mechanical Engineer to support development and validation of an atomic clock product pilot line, joining the Timing and Frequency Mechanical Engineering team to design, prototype, test, and pre-produce new/existing products. Responsibilities include developing CAD models and drawings, performing engineering analyses, contributing to technical reviews, assembling prototype units and creating assembly procedures, and developing and executing test plans. Collaboration with manufacturing to incorporate DFM/DFA into design and documentation. Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, 4+ years of product-focused engineering experience, strong SolidWorks CAD skills, GD&T on drawings, and experience with design-for-manufacturability and assembly; ability to communicate technically and reason about small component details. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE includes building proof-of-concept prototypes, lean/mid-volume manufacturing exposure, a portfolio of innovative designs, thermal or vibration analysis, and familiarity with space hardware materials and optical/telecommunication systems.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
- 4+ years of experience in a professional, product-focused engineering role
- SolidWorks 3D CAD tools
- Experience with GD&T on engineering drawings
- Design for Manufacturability and Assembly principles
- Ability to visually see and focus on fine details of small components
- Strong verbal and written technical communication
