Job Summary
Mechanical Engineer - Process & Mechanical will support industrial and capital projects from concept development through startup and commissioning. You will develop process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), heat and material balances, and equipment specifications, while participating in design reviews, requirements gathering, and vendor coordination. You will create detailed engineering drawings and process models using CAD and simulation tools (FEA & CFD), support technical reports and project documentation, and engage in internal and client-facing meetings. The role offers mentoring by senior/principal engineers and opportunities to pursue a Professional Engineer (PE) license. Collaboration spans mechanical, structural, electrical, and controls teams, fabrication, and field service. Travel to client sites and suppliers (<25%) is expected. On-site at Rochester, NY offices or via site visits will be required. Compensation range provided with potential incentives and comprehensive benefits.
Required Qualifications
- BS and/or MS degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- 1-3+ years of relevant experience in industrial process equipment and/or capital project environments
- Strong written and verbal communication, organization, and personal management skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Willingness to travel to client sites and suppliers as needed (<25%)
- BS and/or MS degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from an accredited college or university
- Experience with CAD software/tools; AutoCAD 2D/3D and/or SolidWorks preferred
- Experience with analysis and simulation tools; SolidWorks FEA and CFD preferred
- Experience with process diagramming and flowcharting tools; Microsoft Visio preferred
- Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification (preferred)
