Job Summary
Mechanical Engineer Principal responsible for maintenance and troubleshooting of radar mechanical systems, implementing integration projects for improvement and modernization and for operational and maintenance (I&M and O&M), maintaining maintenance schedules, spares, and equipment inventory, and managing preventive maintenance projects while coordinating with cross-functional teams. Requires a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, 8+ years of experience, proficiency with 3D CAD (SolidWorks), ability to read schematics, strong communication skills, and eligibility to obtain a U.S. government Secret security clearance; willingness to relocate to Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands, and to work accompanied with eligibility for a U.S. passport. Occasional non-duty hours or weekend work may be required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline
- Eight (8) or more years of Mechanical Engineering experience or equivalent field experience
- Demonstrated ability to perform effective hardware design, structural analysis, and organize integration projects
- Familiar with standard mechanical functions of equipment including, but not limited to, pumps, motors, and structural components
- Safety-conscious
- Working knowledge of 3D CAD software, preferably SolidWorks
- Demonstrated ability to read schematic diagrams
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with and direct craftsmen and technicians
- Excellent written and communications skills to include technical writing
- Willingness and physical ability to work at moderate heights up to 50ft
- Climber II Certification or ability to obtain certification within 6 months of hire (local training and testing provided)
- Willingness and physical ability to assist engineering technicians with manual labor tasks consistent with the maintenance and upgrades of mechanical antenna systems
- Ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 45 lbs. independently
- Ability to perform (I&M) and (O&M) projects involving mechanical systems
- Ability to work with other groups (Hardware, Digital, Transmitter, Receiver, Electrical, etc.) with their projects by providing mechanical design and support
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with movable mechanical systems, gear boxes, electrical servo systems, hydraulic systems, brake systems and/or electric motors
- Demonstrated ability to aid in the development and improvement of routine preventive maintenance procedures
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
- Must be able to relocate to the United States Army Garrison, Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. passport
- The flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirement
