Job Summary
Senior Mechanical Engineer (PE) with the ability to stamp and seal documents for the DOE SPR program. Serves as Engineer of Record for mechanical design of pumping, piping, tank and pipeline support, and HVAC systems in high-regulation environments. Primary responsibilities include leading design, performing hydraulic and mechanical calculations, developing specs and construction documents, coordinating with multi-discipline teams, supporting value engineering and field construction activities, and providing site visits and commissioning support. Required: PE license, 12+ years of mechanical design experience, experience stamping documents, and familiarity with ASME, NFPA, UFC, and DOE orders. Domestic travel to SPR facilities in TX and LA. Highly preferred: Fire Protection Engineering licensure or experience, and knowledge of NFPA standards. Must be a U.S. citizen with ability to obtain required DOE site access.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Licensed in Louisiana and Texas or able to obtain reciprocity in both states
- 12+ years of progressive mechanical design experience
- Demonstrated experience serving as Engineer of Record and stamping construction documents
- Strong background in Industrial piping systems
- Pump selection and hydraulic analysis
- Pressure vessel and tank systems
- HVAC systems for industrial or mission-critical facilities
- Experience supporting federal clients (DOE, USACE, VA, DOD preferred)
- Familiarity with ASME, NFPA, and applicable federal codes
- Ability to obtain and maintain required site access/security clearance
