Job Summary

Perform mechanical and piping engineering functions within multidisciplinary teams across nuclear sectors, assisting project teams in understanding scope, execution strategy, cost, and schedule. Ensure delivery of project requirements while following the Nuclear Quality Management System (NQMS) and support site field visits to obtain data. Prepare and review equipment identification, piping system design activities including hydraulic analysis, P&ID development, material specifications, and stress analysis. Interface with vendors throughout design and procurement, support direct client interfaces, and participate in HAZOP reviews. Assist in resolving engineering issues during planning, design, procurement, fabrication, construction, and commissioning phases. Promote ethical practices and adhere to Hatch's safety culture while supporting business development efforts and strategic initiatives for the nuclear industry.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
  • Approximately 7–10 years of engineering experience
  • Strong deliverable focus with the ability to plan your work effectively
  • Ability to learn and understand inter‐discipline dependencies related to mechanical and piping engineering functions
  • Exposure to procurement, contracting, and commissioning methodologies
  • Experience working in pressurized water reactor (PWR) and boiling water reactor (BWR) plants
  • Experience working within a nuclear quality management system (ASME NQA‐1)
  • Sound knowledge of codes and standards applicable to the nuclear industry
  • Well‐developed communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly to clients, regulators, vendors, and multidisciplinary project teams
  • Eligibility to work on export‐controlled projects subject to 10 CFR 810
  • Ability to travel for short-term business trips domestically and internationally

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working with advanced Generation IV reactors (HTGRs, sodium‐cooled reactors, molten salt reactors, etc.) is desirable
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer‐in‐Training (EIT) status is preferred
  • Site experience in a technical role is preferred
