Job Summary
Design and fabricate next-generation hardware for autonomous construction robots, focusing on masonry systems, lift platforms, and hot-swappable end effectors. Conduct back-of-the-envelope calculations, perform multi-physics simulations, and build complex assemblies using 3D CAD, machining, and rapid prototyping. Deploy systems to real construction sites in the Netherlands to stress-test designs, uncover edge cases, and iterate toward full on-site autonomy and millimetre-level positioning accuracy. Work onsite five days a week in Amsterdam's fully equipped workshop and robot testing floor, collaborating with a founding team to tackle challenges in lifting payloads and reliable operation at height.
Required Qualifications
- A proven record of being a builder and being able to work autonomously
- Experience in designing and delivering products from concept up to low series volume
- Proficiency in rapid prototyping, 3D printing, machining, and milling
- Deep knowledge of mechanical systems and structural dynamics
- Expertise with 3D CAD modeling with complex parts and assemblies
- Expertise in multi-physics simulations (FEA) applied to structural designing problems
- Experience selecting, sourcing, and integrating electronics components into hardware design
Desired Qualifications
- B.Sc. in mechanical, mechatronics, or robotics engineering or similar experience
