Job Summary
Mechanical Engineer with BS/MS in mechanical/materials/manufacturing engineering, focused on mechanical design and development of ruggedized systems for harsh environments. Responsibilities include contributing to multi-disciplinary team activities, ideation, and adapting to changing requirements; effective communication with program team and leadership; defining approaches to independently solve technical problems under leadership; identifying technical and schedule risks and communicating them to project leadership; strong organization and time management to meet program goals. Skills include 3D CAD (SolidWorks/CREO), design for manufacturability, drawing creation, tolerancing, fabrication and assembly of prototypes, machine shop tools, actuators, sensors, embedded electronics, and experience with ANSYS, COMSOL, and MATLAB.
Required Qualifications
- BS or MS degree in mechanical engineering, materials science, or manufacturing engineering
- 2-10 years of experience
- Experience designing in 3D CAD using SolidWorks and/or CREO
- Familiarity with design for manufacturability, drawing creation, and tolerancing
- Familiarity with fabrication and assembly of prototypes and proof-of-concept models
- Team player able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks
- Familiarity with machine shop tools and processes, prototyping, and vendor coordination
- Familiarity with actuators, sensors, and embedded electronics
- Experience with analysis tools such as ANSYS, COMSOL, and/or MATLAB
