Job Summary
Lead engineer on pipeline design and project-delivery efforts, guiding junior staff and coordinating with regulatory agencies, clients, contractors, and vendors. Responsibilities include developing engineering calculations, pipeline modeling, line sizing, MAOP calculations, QA/QC of plats and P&IDs, preparing client proposals and schedules, and ensuring designs comply with industry codes and safety standards. The role involves mentoring junior engineers, cross-discipline coordination (civil, mechanical, structural, environmental, survey, and electrical), and contributing to design solutions from basis of design through IFC plan sets, with potential growth into project management. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology (ABET-accredited), 5-10+ years of relevant experience, and a valid driver's license. Preferences include PE license and experience with natural gas pipelines, HDD bore calculations, pipeline safety standards, and API/ASME/NACE/NFPA standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology from ABET-accredited school
- 5-10+ years of relevant experience
- Valid Driver's License
- Ability to balance multiple, fast-paced projects with strong communication and prioritization skills
- Familiarity with industry standards including API 610, 650, 653, ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, NFPA 30, DOT Part 192, DOT Part 195 and state pipeline safety regulations
- Working experience with DOT PHMSA or State commissions
- Experience in pipeline design and construction for natural gas pipelines and/or facilities
