Job Summary
Senior Mechanical Engineer IV to lead enclosure, mounting, and ruggedized assemblies for electronic hardware from concept through field-ready builds. Responsible for 3D CAD modeling, detailed drawings, tolerances analyses, rapid prototyping (3D printing, machining), design-for-manufacturability, and thermal/structural/environmental analyses to meet ruggedization requirements. Collaborates with electrical/RF/embedded teams on mechanical integration and packaging, selects materials/components, manages BOMs and documentation, supports field testing and design iteration based on operational feedback, and coordinates with technicians and vendors on builds, fabrication, and assembly. Must be eligible for U.S. security clearance and hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 8+ years of relevant experience.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 8+ years of mechanical design experience for electronic or ruggedized hardware products
- Expert proficiency with 3D CAD (e.g., SolidWorks) and GD&T
- Experience with rapid prototyping, machining, and design for manufacturability
- Working knowledge of thermal management and environmental/ruggedization standards (e.g., MIL-STD-810)
- Hands-on prototyping and lab validation experience
- Strong cross-disciplinary collaboration skills
