Job Summary
Design, build, and test satellite hardware and software by evaluating, procuring, and assembling structure, bracketry, and mechanisms including composite and metallic parts. Perform mechanical and thermal analysis for spacecraft systems while integrating components and documenting procedures to improve future build processes. This twelve-week hourly internship for currently enrolled university students focuses on meaningful work on complex projects, with a base pay of $29 per hour. U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required to comply with space technology export regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a B.S. in mechanical, aerospace, or equivalent technical degree (e.g. physics or applied math)
- A passion and enthusiasm for hardware development, including working in a fast-paced environment and hands-on design and development
- Demonstrated ability to personally design, build, and test hardware from scratch
- U.S. Citizenship, Lawful Permanent Residency, or Refugee/Asylee Status
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with CAD
- Experience with analytical software such as stress or thermal analysis
- Experience with electromechanical system design and specification
- Experience with control system modeling and design
