Job Summary
Lead mechanical design and development of Mujin’s robotic systems and fixtures. Responsibilities include creating or reviewing mechanical drawings, change management and part-number releases, generating concepts for improved designs, and setting up/configuring components such as industrial robots, demo cells, end effectors, cameras, lighting, compressed air systems, robot controllers, and vision systems. Conduct engaging robot demonstrations for customers and provide technical explanations, offer on-site and remote technical support, assist in installation and configuration of Mujin controllers, design custom metal parts (robot hands, robot cells, pedestals, demo frames, mounting plates, vacuum gripper parts), manage projects with limited supervision, and coach junior professionals. Requires a Bachelor’s in Engineering with at least 5 years of relevant experience, proficiency in industrial mechanical design (CAD models/system layouts), ability to read specs and procure components, and familiarity with AutoCAD/Inventor. Desired experience includes robotics/automation, safeguarding and manipulation of industrial robots, and hands-on work with six/seven-axis robot arms, conveyors, sensors, CNC tooling, and related robotic workflows. Travel up to 15%. Competitive benefits package is offered.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in Engineering Degree plus 5 years relevant experience
- Proficiency in industrial mechanical design with ability to generate CAD models or system layouts
- Ability to read and interpret specification sheets and procure mechanical components from suppliers
- Desire for robotics and automation experience
- Familiarity with AutoDesk Inventor and AutoCAD
- Hands-on experience with tasks for six and seven-axis robot arms, conveyor belt systems, industrial sensors, manufacturing processes, CNC, robotic tooling, and related areas
- Previous design/R&D experience in manufacturing or logistics-related companies
