Job Summary
Develop heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems for government and commercial buildings using commercially available engineering software. Gathers and correlates engineering data, performs calculations and simple tests, and proposes solutions to new problems using modified standard procedures. Independently completes primary design elements, coordinates HVAC systems with other disciplines, and conducts site visits to evaluate existing equipment conditions. Review and approve shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and organize projects to ensure quality controls and budget adherence. Provide guidance to entry-level engineers and assist with mentoring junior staff while maintaining accurate project documentation.
Required Qualifications
- BA/BS in Mechanical Engineering
- four (4) years of relevant experience in mechanical design of HVAC systems for buildings
- demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- US Citizenship
- AutoCAD experience
- Revit experience
- Experience in building HVAC load calculations
- Experience in energy modeling
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite
Desired Qualifications
- Six (6) years of professional experience designing HVAC and Plumbing systems utilizing industry-standard software
- IES HVAC load modeling
- Understanding of and ability to complete and coordinate project design assignments with the ability to review team member's work for quality
- Knowledge/experience with building HVAC systems design including but not limited to chilled water, hot water, condenser water, steam, and air-side systems
- Knowledge/experience with building plumbing systems design including but not limited to sanitary drainage and venting, domestic service water, domestic hot water, and storm drainage systems
- Experience with sustainable design and energy efficiency
- Experience with ASHRAE & NFPA standards
- Experience with International Building Codes
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Good interpersonal, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
- Good time management skills
