Job Summary
Develop new products and complete projects, systems, components, or processes in a fast-paced cross-functional environment. Interpret legacy designs for sustaining engineering activities, assist with regulatory tasks, and manage projects with international design teams and vendors. Design complete projects, systems, components, or processes while interfacing with manufacturing, sub-contractors, and suppliers. Fabricate test parts, equipment, and jigs using basic machine tools, and develop project specifications with cross-functional team members. Lead cross-functional design reviews, develop test protocols, and facilitate the Engineering Change Notification (ECN) process. Mentor mechanical Co-Ops and interns, contribute to continuous improvement activities, and participate in Envista Business System (EBS) training.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field
- 3+ years' experience in design and manufacturing
- Master's degree with 2+ years' experience
- 2+ years of 3D design and 2D printmaking with tools such as SolidWorks (preferred), Creo, etc.
- Experience using Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Must have strong knowledge in mechanical parts & assemblies
- Excellent written and communication skills
- Must be able to lift up to 35lbs
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working in a regulated industry (medical, aerospace, automotive)
- 3+ years of hands-on testing, prototyping, and troubleshooting of mechanical designs, products, or fixtures
- Intermediate knowledge of materials properties and associated processing techniques (plastic injection molding, CNC machining, sheet metal forming / stamping, etc.)
- Basic familiarity with design for manufacturability (DFM) including tolerancing, process analysis, and collaboration with production
- Experience with basic machine shop equipment (vertical mill, band saw, etc.)
- Experience in Design Control/ DFM / GMP / FDA / ISO 9001/ ISO 13485 standards
- Experience with rapid prototyping (FDM/SLA 3D printing)
