Job Summary
Mechanical Engineer II responsible for design of mechanical/electromechanical components and assemblies for electronic products and systems operating in harsh environments. Tasks include designing mechanical parts and assemblies (enclosures, racks, sheet metal, machined parts, 3D printed components) and integrating electrical cabling; performing concept-to-product realization using 3D solid modeling (SolidWorks); conducting FEA/CFD analyses with SolidWorks Simulation; performing thermal, shock, vibration, and regulatory compliance analyses (MIL standards) and supporting validation testing; coordinating with internal engineers and external vendors; generating exploded assembly drawings and BOMs; supporting design reviews and providing manufacturing support, including training and advisory roles. Education requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent and 4–6 years of related experience. Aerospace industry experience and knowledge of MIL-STD standards, ISO9001/AS9100 preferred; US Citizenship required; security clearance desired but not required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum 4 to 6 years of mechanical design experience related to electronics products and systems
- Experience with SolidWorks and SolidWorks Simulation; proficient with CAD tools (AutoCAD or SolidWorks)
- Knowledge of thermal, shock, and vibration analysis for electronic enclosures and equipment racks
- Familiarity with MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, RTCA DO-160; FAA FARS or related industry regulations preferred
- Excellent communication and ability to work in cross-functional teams
- US Citizenship is required; government security clearance is desired but not required
- Experience from concept through production release to production
