Job Summary
Design, fabricate, and assemble mechanical and control components to develop novel cementitious materials products. Develop and execute testing protocols, maintain experimental records, and analyze results while ensuring equipment operates per manufacturer specifications or standardized requirements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to brainstorm improvements to hardware, software, and control systems, and stay updated on advancements in synthesizing equipment. Comply with all Health, Safety, and Environmental policies in a hands-on work environment requiring the ability to lift 25 pounds unassisted. This role supports the System Engineering team at Queens Carbon, a Breakthrough Energy Fellows company pioneering carbon-neutral cement production.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or greater degree in Mechanical Engineering and/or Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in an academic or industrial setting
- Experience with automation and controls (PLC, Arduino, Instrumentation, Industrial Controls)
- Experience with fabrication and CAD design (3D Printing, CNC, Prototyping)
- Experience with fluid and gas management (Piping/Valves/Instrumentation)
- Ability to work full-time and in-person onsite
- The ability to sit, stand, walk, and lift 25 pounds unassisted or more than 25 pounds assisted
