Job Summary
Lead the mechanical design and specification of water and wastewater systems, including pumping, treatment processes, pipework, and filtration. Produce and review high-spec technical documentation such as design calculations, specifications, schematics, and equipment schedules to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. Support projects from concept through commissioning, liaising with clients, contractors, and regulators while conducting site inspections and witness testing. Act as the technical authority for water mechanical systems, mentoring junior engineers and collaborating across civil, electrical, and process disciplines.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline
- Significant experience in water, wastewater, or utilities engineering environments
- Strong understanding of hydraulics, pumping systems, treatment processes, and mechanical plant
- Proven ability to deliver high spec, safety critical, or regulated projects
- Excellent technical writing, problem solving, and communication skills
Desired Qualifications
- Chartered or working toward CEng status (IMechE or equivalent)
- Experience with major frameworks, utilities providers, or mission critical facilities
- Knowledge of energy efficiency, resilience, and sustainability principles
- Familiarity with digital design tools (e.g. 3D modelling, BIM environments)
