Job Summary

Lead new product design and development from concept through production launch for marine steering applications, managing engineering projects and balancing priorities across multiple active initiatives. Prepare and maintain engineering documentation including drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and validation reports while specifying materials for harsh operating environments. Develop mechanical and electromechanical assemblies using structured engineering tools such as QFD, DFMA, and FMEA to ensure compliance with ISO, SAE, ASTM, and other regulatory standards. Conduct lifecycle testing, salt spray validation, and functional performance tests to verify product reliability and cost-effectiveness. Process Engineering Change Requests and support manufacturing with production issues and cost-reduction initiatives. Interface directly with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to define requirements and resolve field technical issues.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electro-Mechanical, or a related Engineering discipline
  • A relevant combination of education and experience
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks or similar systems
  • Solid understanding of GD&T and practical application of dimensional tolerancing
  • Familiarity with volume production processes including machining, casting, molding, extrusion, sheet metal fabrication, welding, and assembly
  • Knowledge of MRP systems for controlling engineering bills of materials
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Highly organized with strong time management and prioritization abilities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Self-starter with a proactive, can-do mindset
  • Innovative thinker with the ability to learn from both successes and failures
  • Collaborative team player comfortable working up, down, and across the organization
  • Professional demeanor in all forms of communication
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a strong team environment
  • Experience working with individuals of diverse backgrounds with respect for differences
  • Onsite role within a manufacturing and engineering facility
  • Occasional travel to customer locations and other Dometic sites

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with 2D drafting tools
  • Working knowledge of engineering simulation and analysis tools (e.g., FEA, CFD)
  • Familiarity with sensors, electronic instrumentation, and test equipment
