Job Summary
Lead design of mechanical systems for buildings across sectors including healthcare, education, and energy by producing high-quality construction documents using Revit and managing project schedules. Collaborate with architects, other engineers, and clients to produce integrated building designs, while performing HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection calculations including code research. Manage mechanical design teams and review shop drawings, RFIs, and submittals to ensure deliverable requirements are met. Conduct site visits when needed and write specifications. This Senior Mechanical Engineer role is part of an interdisciplinary team at DLR Group, an employee-owned integrated design firm committed to environmental stewardship and the 2030 Challenge. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering and 3-7 years of experience.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering
- 3-7+ years of experience working as a mechanical engineer, including design of HVAC systems, central utility plants, plumbing and fire suppression systems
- Working knowledge of the design and construction process and the ability to understand and communicate with professionals of other disciplines
- Knowledge of Autodesk Revit
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Desired Qualifications
- LEED accreditation
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
- Experience with BIM including Autodesk Revit workflow
- Building energy modeling experience
