Mechanical Engineer

Job Summary
Design and develop plumbing systems, including domestic water, sanitary, stormwater, and specialty piping, while performing hydraulic calculations, pipe sizing, and equipment selection per local codes. Prepare construction documents and review shop drawings for adherence to specifications, collaborating with architects and structural engineers to ensure seamless project coordination. Conduct site visits, inspections, and assessments to verify compliance with design intent, and assist in preparing technical reports, proposals, and engineering studies. Provide mentorship to junior engineers and designers while participating in project meetings to communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering (or a related technical discipline)
- 3+ years of professional experience in Mechanical Engineering (preferably with plumbing system design projects)
- FE / EIT credential
Desired Qualifications
- PE license
- Experience working with a variety of projects (preferably with commercial, institutional, and industrial projects)
- Advanced proficiency with engineering tools (e.g.: CADD, BIM, etc.)
- expertise with Autodesk Revit
- Expertise with relevant codes & standards (including IPC, UPC, NFPA 13, NFPA 14, NFPA 99, and ASHRAE)
- Advanced knowledge of plumbing system design principles, hydraulic calculations, and piping layout best practices
- Proven ability to conduct site surveys and field inspections in an effective manner
- Experience with fire protection engineering
- Membership in relevant professional organizations (such as ASPE [American Society of Plumbing Engineers])
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
