Job Summary
Mechanical Engineer at DEKA Research and Development in Manchester, NH, responsible for leading mechanical design activities across the product lifecycle for innovative medical devices. Lead concept generation, prototyping, component and assembly development, testing, and documentation. Generate creative solutions considering risk, reliability, manufacturability, serviceability, weight, and cost. Transition concepts to products using 3D CAD Solid Modeling, define requirements, select materials/processes, interface with suppliers/manufacturers, and document development. Troubleshoot design failure modes, drive root-cause analysis, and implement rapid fixes. Coordinate with a multi-disciplinary team (electrical, software, industrial design, controls). Evaluate designs through prototype testing and verification. Participate in technical design reviews and provide mentorship to less experienced engineers. Must be self-sufficient, handle multiple sub-assembly designs, and thrive in a dynamic environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering
- Minimum of 5+ years’ experience with mechanical design for manufacturability in a high precision/high volume manufacturing environment (medical preferred)
- 1+ years’ experience with electro-mechanical devices with embedded software preferred
- Familiarity with plastic injection molding required
- Die casting preferred
- Metal injection molding a plus
- Exposure to process validation and mold qualifications
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across disciplines
