Job Summary
Mechanical Engineer to design and coordinate HVAC systems for data centers and mission-critical facilities in Milan, Italy. Responsibilities include designing/coordinating HVAC and cooling solutions (CRAH/CRAC, chilled water systems, DX, in-row cooling, containment), performing cooling/heating load calculations, sizing equipment, creating technical drawings and specs, developing HVAC schematics and P&IDs, modeling in Revit, coordinating with electrical/architectural/structural teams, and staying updated on data center cooling technologies and international standards. Requires ~5 years of HVAC experience, a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit, and knowledge of Uptime Institute, TIA-942, and ANSI/BICSI guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Approx. 5 years of professional experience in HVAC and mechanical systems design for buildings, industrial, or critical facilities
- Exposure to data center, mission-critical, or high-reliability HVAC systems
- Familiarity with HVAC and mechanical ventilation system design, Chilled water systems and basic cooling plant
- Thermal load calculations and equipment sizing
- AS HRAE and general HVAC design standards
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or mechanical calculation software
- Working knowledge of Revit for HVAC modeling
- Familiarity with data center design guidelines (e.g. Uptime Institute, TIA-942, ANSI/BICSI)
- Exposure to installation or commissioning phases of HVAC systems
- Basic understanding of control strategies and sequences of operation
- Awareness of energy efficiency and sustainability principles
- Ability to work in multidisciplinary project teams
- Good level of English, written and spoken
