Job Summary
Mechanical Engineer (Contract) responsible for mechanical design of silicon photonics packages and laser modules, thermal-mechanical simulations, tolerance analysis, ECO/BOM management, and cross-functional coordination with optical, electrical, packaging, and manufacturing teams. Responsibilities include designing fiber array interfaces and routing solutions, developing tooling fixtures for assembly and testing, coordinating with external vendors for prototype fabrication, and ensuring manufacturability and reliability through simulations and analysis. Requires a bachelor's in mechanical engineering, at least 3 years of thermal-mechanical design experience, and proficiency in SolidWorks and ANSYS; experience with silicon photonics, laser packaging, optical alignment, and DFx methods is preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Minimum 3 years of industry experience in thermal-mechanical simulation and mechanical design
- Proficient in SolidWorks (or equivalent CAD tools) for detailed mechanical design
- Strong proficiency in ANSYS for thermal/mechanical analysis
- Solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles including materials, thermal management, structural analysis, and tolerance analysis
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple assignments and tight schedules
