Mechanical Engineer - Commissioning

Job Summary
Execute commissioning services on a variety of project types, including design reviews of mechanical and plumbing systems, HVAC sequence of operation analysis, and creation of comprehensive testing procedures. Perform field testing of chilled water and DX systems such as chillers, boilers, cooling towers, and AHUs while manipulating and adjusting HVAC controls systems like JCI, Trane, and Siemens. Review air and water test and balance reports, visit client facilities to gather data, and create system installation and testing documents. Work safely around electrical systems up to 600 volts, adhere to OSHA safety requirements, and communicate effectively with clients, construction trades, and design professionals. Travel approximately 50% of the time and work flexible hours, including potential hot or cold environments.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 8+ years of experience
- Demonstrated experience in commissioning and mechanical systems
- Complete working knowledge of HVAC chilled water and DX systems, including design, operation, and testing of: Chillers, Boilers, Cooling towers, pumps, heat exchangers, AHU, RTU, ERU, VAVs, exhaust, FCU, etc.
- Knowledge of manipulating, adjusting, setup and testing HVAC controls systems such as JCI, Trane, Automated Logic, Siemens, etc.
- Commissioning process certification preferred or ability to acquire within first 6 months
- Professional Engineering License a plus or ability to acquire
- Self-motivated with highly developed verbal, written and interpersonal skills
- Travel approximately 50% of the time
- Work flexible hours and work in hot or cold environments
- Climb stairs, ladders, and use lift trucks. Do moderate lifting.
- Be familiar with OSHA safety requirements and have the ability to identify deficiencies
- Be familiar with building codes and have the ability to make intuitive decisions related to such
- Work safely around electrical systems up to 600 volts
