Job Summary
Design and engineer HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems for commercial, healthcare, education, industrial, and institutional facilities. Prepare complete construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and engineering calculations, while performing load calculations, equipment selections, and system performance analyses using Trane TRACE, eQUEST, and Revit MEP. Coordinate mechanical systems with architectural, structural, electrical, and plumbing disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery, manage project scope and budgets, and provide construction administration services including responding to RFIs and reviewing submittals. Mentor junior engineers and interface directly with clients, architects, contractors, and authorities having jurisdiction. Contribute to energy modeling, sustainability initiatives, and LEED/green building certification efforts.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- minimum of three years of mechanical design experience
- AutoCAD experience
- Revit experience
- Strong understanding of applicable codes, including ASHRAE, IMC, NFPA, and IPC
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum of five years of progressive experience in MEP/building systems engineering
- Demonstrated experience designing HVAC, plumbing, and/or fire protection systems
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license
- LEED AP or other sustainability credential
- Experience with energy modeling software, including Trane TRACE, eQUEST, or EnergyPlus
- Background in healthcare, higher education, commercial, or mission-critical facility design
- Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) coordination workflows
- Experience with commissioning processes and documentation
