Job Summary
Design product enclosures, assemblies, and mechanical components using SolidWorks for consumer electronics, rack-mounted server chassis, and rugged outdoor units. Develop concepts requiring compact packaging, refined appearance, and high-quality fit and finish, while creating detailed 3D models, manufacturing drawings, bills of materials, and product documentation. Design sheet-metal parts including bends, formed features, weldments, and hardware selection. Provide technical guidance and design feedback to junior engineers, technicians, and CAD designers. Identify technical risks early and exercise sound judgment on escalating cost, schedule, or safety risks. Deliver complete, production-ready designs with minimal supervision.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related engineering discipline
- Typically four or more years of relevant mechanical product-design experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Practical knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing in accordance with ASME Y14.5 or a comparable standard
- Understanding of product-development processes from initial requirements through design, prototype, verification, release, and production
- Advanced working proficiency with SolidWorks
- Complex part modeling
