Mechanical Engineer, Autonomous Vehicle

Job Summary
Design, develop, and optimize mechanical systems and components for autonomous vehicles, including sensor racks, equipment brackets, and sensor cleaning systems. Conduct simulations and analyses to validate design concepts, lead rapid prototyping and function validation, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical systems into the overall vehicle architecture. Source and collaborate with local fabrication and manufacture suppliers, while participating in prototyping and testing to ensure components meet specifications. Troubleshoot mechanical issues, perform failure analysis, and implement corrective actions to improve design and manufacturing processes. Create and maintain SOPs, train technicians for truck retrofitting, and revise BOMs to support materials management. Establish retrofitting process and quality control standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in mechanical engineering
- experience in the automotive or autonomous vehicle industry
- Strong skills in hands-on fabrication
- experience with 3D printing
- experience with power tools
- experience with hand tools
- Proficiency in CAD software
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems
- Strong understanding of materials
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes
- Experience with CAE
- Experience with other simulation tools
- Knowledge of automotive safety standards
- Knowledge of automotive safety regulations
- Excellent problem-solving skills
