Job Summary
Lead the design, development, and qualification of complex mechanical components and assemblies for plasma diagnostic sensor products. Create engineering concepts, 3D models, detailed drawings, and specifications while performing analyses such as tolerance stack-ups and thermal characterization. Oversee manufacturing and installation processes, coordinate procurement, and resolve technical issues across the full product lifecycle from concept to sustaining support. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive design reviews, failure investigations, and supplier engagement for new product introduction and manufacturing readiness.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
- 7–10 years of relevant product development experience in a high-technology engineering environment
- Strong expertise in: Mechanical design and product development
- Strong expertise in: 3D CAD modeling and engineering documentation
- Strong expertise in: Precision machined components and assemblies
- Strong expertise in: GD&T and tolerance analysis
- Strong expertise in: Manufacturing processes and Design for Manufacturability (DFM)
- Strong expertise in: Material selection and application
- Strong expertise in: Thermodynamics and heat transfer principles
- Strong expertise in: Engineering testing, qualification, and validation
- Strong expertise in: Root-cause analysis and structured problem solving
- Strong expertise in: Design for Excellence methodologies
- Bachelor's degree
- 7-10 years of experience
Desired Qualifications
- Experience developing products for vacuum and plasma processing environments
- Experience designing plasma-exposed mechanical hardware
- Experience developing semiconductor equipment subsystems, sensors, or precision electromechanical products
- Experience with vacuum system design, vacuum-compatible materials, sealing technologies, and contamination-control practices
- Experience performing thermal, structural, or finite element analysis (FEA)
- Experience supporting new product introduction (NPI), manufacturing release, and product industrialization activities
- Experience working directly with contract manufacturers and external suppliers
- Familiarity of semiconductor equipment reliability, qualification, and failure-analysis methodologies
- Knowledge of contamination control, vacuum-compatible coatings, materials selection, and semiconductor manufacturing equipment requirements
- Knowledge of Applied Materials Product Development Lifecycle processes
