Job Summary
Mechanical Engineer with 10+ years in machine and tooling design sought to design tooling and systems supporting WSI’s specialty repair services. Responsibilities include solving complex technical issues, equipment and automation design, mock-up testing, documentation, field support, and potential Field Engineer duties assisting the Site Manager. Key tasks involve machine design, tooling design direction, application engineering design and development, mentoring less experienced engineers, supporting customer scopes, managing scope/schedule/budget for projects, and maintaining technical product documentation. Requires SolidWorks CAD/CAE proficiency, experience with PDM, understanding of tolerancing and gear systems, and strong English communication. Travel <15% for onsite project support and meetings.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electromechanical, Industrial Engineering or related field
- 10+ years of experience in machine and equipment design and development
- Hands-on experience in designing precision tooling for automation and mechanical systems
- Proficiency in SolidWorks (CAD/CAE), including modeling and basic simulation
- Experience with PDM systems and engineering documentation standards
- Strong understanding of machine design principles (tolerancing, gear systems, strength of materials, motors, bearings, feedback systems)
- Familiarity with FEA (stress and fatigue analysis) is a strong advantage
- Knowledge of robotic welding or similar industrial equipment is a plus
- Basic understanding of motion control systems (hardware/software) is an advantage
- Experience with prototyping techniques and materials
- Strong communication skills with fluent English (written and spoken)
- Ability to work independently and handle complex engineering tasks with minimal supervision
