Job Summary

Develop mechanical equipment and piping material specifications, producing calculations for hydraulic modeling, pipe stress, and pump sizing. Coordinate with the design team to direct engineering drawings and collaborate on general arrangements, P&ID's, and asset lists. Attend client meetings and site visits while performing complex design assignments requiring independent judgment. Prepare technical reports, interact with vendors and regulatory agencies, and verify peer work against industry standards. Maintain open communication regarding workload planning and budgeting. This mid-career role supports multi-disciplinary design for power generation and innovative stellarator technology, requiring a Bachelor's degree and four years of relevant experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 4 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering for industrial or power generation projects
  • EIT Certification with the ability to license as a PE within 1 year
  • Ability to license as a PE within 1 year
  • Must be able to attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location
  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position
  • Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position

Desired Qualifications

  • Professional Engineering licensure
  • 6+ years of experience preferred
  • 2+ yrs experience as project technical mechanical lead
  • Demonstrated experience with specifying mechanical equipment (e.g. rotating equipment, tanks, pumps, pressure vessels, heat exchanges)
  • Familiarity with diverse metallurgy
  • Demonstrated experience with engineering software packages: Caesar II, Pipe-Flo (or other hydraulic modeling application), AspenTech applications and/or Applied Flow Technology applications
  • Experience with nuclear power generation and thermal power generation
  • Experience executing work in 3D model environments and collaborative model environments (e.g. Navisworks, ACC)
  • Experience with AutoCAD Plant3D Smart P&ID's
  • Strong knowledge of piping specifications and pipe stress analysis
  • Strong experience leveraging laser scan or other data sets to inform design development
  • Knowledge of typical stakeholders and be able to anticipate data requests and expectations
  • Demonstrated experience in participating complex, multi-discipline programs/projects and CAD teams
  • Comprehensive knowledge of industry (incl safety) standards (e.g. API, ASME)
