Job Summary
Mechanical Engineer 2 role for Emerson Measurement Systems: responsible for the mechanical design of metering systems from initial conception through construction, testing, and handover, ensuring conformance to contract, customer specifications, and applicable standards. Responsibilities include reviewing customer specifications, generating project documents and drawings, finalizing basic design (P&ID, equipment, general arrangement, BOM), performing piping and structural analysis, coordinating with mechanical designers, engaging with customers (KOM, queries, deviations), maintaining quality records, preparing datasheets/MR for long-lead items, sub-vendor reviews, progress monitoring, pre-FAT/FAT activities, and providing engineering support to E&I, Quality, Purchasing, and PMO. Desired skills include extensive knowledge of meters and prover sizing, stress analysis via CAESER-II/STAAD, AutoCAD/MicroStation drawing, familiarity with ASME/ANSI/API/API MPMS/ISO standards for Oil & Gas measurement, welding and NDT, and strong communication and collaboration abilities. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering
- Validated experience in Piping, Oil and Gas, and Process Industries
- Knowledge of Oil and Gas industry equipment, instruments, piping, and structural work
- Good knowledge of meters for Gas and liquids; ASME, ANSI, API, API MPMS, ISO standards related to Oil and Gas measurement services
- Familiar with Piping & Structural Welding and Non-destructive testing
- Experience with Meter and Prover Sizing
- Ability to do stress analysis using CAESER-II / STAAD or equivalent
- Excellent analytical and communication skills
- Excellent drawing skills in AutoCAD / Micro Station
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Quality, efficiency, and schedule focus
- Leadership and team-guidance capabilities
- Experience with Pre-FAT and FAT processes
- Project documentation and QA/QC experience
