Job Summary
Assist in the design of mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and fire protection by developing drawings using AutoCAD and performing calculations for heat gain/loss and energy modelling. Prepare schematics, riser diagrams, equipment schedules, and engineering reports while coordinating designs with architectural, electrical, and structural teams. Attend client and internal coordination meetings, participate in site reviews, and review shop drawings to respond to RFIs, CCNs, and SIs. Conduct site audits to verify existing conditions and ensure compliance with codes such as OBC, NFPA, and ASHRAE. Support the preparation of specifications and contract documentation across all project phases from concept through construction.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Registered or working toward registration as an EIT
- Eligibility to obtain a Québec Professional Engineer (ing.)license
Desired Qualifications
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD (REVIT experience is an asset)
- Understanding of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, etc.) is an asset
- Prior experience in the construction industry and/or Consulting Engineering is considered an asset
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent communication—both written and verbal
- A proactive mindset with strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
- Bilingual (English and French) communication skills are considered an asset
