Job Summary
Design and develop layouts for mechanical and electrical systems, creating detailed drawings, schematics, and Bills of Materials in Inventor. Modify designs for boilers and pressure vessels to meet customer requirements while ensuring compliance with ASME, NEC codes, and company standards. Collaborate with designers, inspectors, and QA personnel, and assist manufacturing by improving processes and reducing scrap. Support marketing in developing new product options and assist in sizing valves, pumps, and controls. This role supports Vapor Power International's innovation in steam generators and thermal fluid heaters. Candidates must have 2 to 5 years of mechanical design experience, including Inventor proficiency and pressure vessel knowledge.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2 to 5 years of mechanical designer experience
- Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude
- Ability to read all applicable drawings, including mechanical, electrical schematics and instrumentation
- Expertise and proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Projects, and Access, etc.
- Proficient with Inventor for creating and editing drawings
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
- Must be able to regularly travel to trade shows and manufacturing locations
- Upon receiving an offer for this position, candidates will need to consent to a one time drug test and background check
Desired Qualifications
- 2 years Inventor experience preferred
- Pressure vessel or boiler industry experience a plus
- Experience with boilers, valve sizing, pump sizing
- Experience with boiler controls and controls methodology
- Experience with schematics and Ladder logic
- ASME pressure vessel controls and code experience a plus
- Knowledge of PLC capabilities a plus
