Job Summary
Mechanical Designer at Premier Marine: you will work on designing pontoon boat components and systems as part of a cross-functional team, generating CAD models and installation drawings, maintaining BOM/ERP data, and supporting concept-to-production activities. You will ensure designs meet performance, quality, cost, and schedule requirements, collaborate with manufacturing and procurement to implement design changes, and perform feasibility evaluations and release activities. Key skills include 3-D CAD (SolidWorks preferred), GD&T, experience with fiberglass/plastic parts, design for manufacture, BOM/ERP data management, and strong communication. Physical requirements include manual dexterity, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and travel up to 10%.
Required Qualifications
- AA Degree in a related discipline
- 3-5 years technical experience as a Designer
- Proficiency in a 3-D CAD modeling package (Solidworks preferred)
- Surface modeling and experience in design of fiberglass and plastic parts preferred
- Design for manufacture of sheet metal parts, castings, forgings, and extrusions
- Strong experience in creating detailed drawings and a working knowledge of GD&T
- Experience in creating and maintaining parts & bill of material information in ERP system
- Creation of original system requirements and specifications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Quick learner with high level of ambition and resolve, self-starter able to manage many concurrent tasks
- Microsoft software including Excel, Project, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Travel as needed (Up to 10%)
