Job Summary
Mechanical Designer responsible for developing accurate, manufacturable CAD designs of sheet metal panels, structural supports, barriers, and copper bus assemblies for low- to medium-voltage switchgear. Create detailed 3D models and drawings using AutoDesk Inventor; prepare BOMs and assembly drawings; ensure manufacturability, regulatory compliance, and alignment with customer specifications. Collaborate with electrical designers and cross-functional teams (project management, manufacturing, sales, estimating, field service) to support project execution; contribute to design reviews and process improvements; mentor junior designers; perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- 0-1 years of progressive mechanical design experience
- 0-1 years of hands-on experience with sheet metal design, structural assemblies, and conductive bus bar design for low- to medium-voltage applications
- Advanced proficiency with AutoDesk Inventor
- Experience preparing parts lists, bills of materials, and assembly drawings
- Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, machining, press brake operations, and CNC punch equipment
- Understanding of product lifecycle management, quality control, and cost optimization
- Ability to lead complex mechanical design projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; ERP/MRP systems such as SAP or similar
- PELICENCE is preferred (PE license)
- Education level: High School/GED required
