Mechanical Designer - Medium Voltage

Job Summary
Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks, creating precise 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, and BOMs for manufacturing and assembly. Revise designs based on shop floor redlines and feedback, while reading submittal documentation to extract relevant information for project modifications. Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional teams to develop new projects and meet customer on-time delivery dates, ensuring all changes are accurately tracked in project documentation. Utilize third-party supplier platforms to verify CAD data for outsourced components and maintain accurate records of design revisions and manufacturing documents.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in mechanical design or drafting, preferably in a manufacturing or product development environment
- Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Drafting & Design, or a related field
- Proficiency in SolidWorks (3D modeling, assemblies, drawings, sheet metal, weldments, etc.)
- Understanding of metal forming processes, specifically sheet metal fabrication methods such as bending, punching, cutting, and forming for manufacturable design
- Knowledge of engineering drawing standards, including welding symbols, GD&T, tolerances, and manufacturing documentation requirements
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time
- Prolonged periods standing on the manufacturing floor and sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Prolonged periods sitting, standing, walking, and performing repetitive tasks
Desired Qualifications
- Basic coding knowledge is preferred but not required
- PE license or EIT with path to licensure
