Job Summary
Develop detailed mechanical models and 2D drawings from vendor documentation for mid- to high-complexity projects, producing complete design packages with up to 80% custom assemblies. Manage concurrent work for four projects while maintaining high drafting accuracy with fewer than two redline iterations. Create mechanical layouts for conduit supports, integrate legacy designs, and provide peer reviews and technical feedback to junior designers. Serve as a Subject Matter Expert in technical categories, ensuring all deliverables meet company standards and project timelines. Requires intermediate proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and strong understanding of parametric design intent.
Required Qualifications
- Intermediate proficiency in Autodesk Inventor
- Strong understanding of mechanical drafting standards and documentation practices
- Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
- High attention to detail with a focus on design accuracy and consistency
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with engineering and cross-functional teams
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical drafting and design
- Associate's degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field
- Certification in Autodesk Inventor
- Proficient in Autodesk (Inventor, AutoCAD, Vault)
- Strong understanding of different parameter types and parametric design intent
- Ability to create parametric equations and formulas
- Complex 3D part feature creation, including: Loft and Sweep features, Patterning – including patterns of patterns, Shell features
- Use of advanced assembly tools, including: View representations, Positional representations, Derived parts, Basic use of model states
- Familiarity with Frame Generator and structural modeling concepts
- Creation and management of complex drawings, including: Managing section and detail views, Breakout views, Exploded views, Retrieved dimensions
- Must be able to access and navigate all areas of construction sites
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred
- Experience with process piping is a plus
- Certification in Autodesk Inventor preferred
- Familiarity with other design software (e.g.,SolidWorks, Revit) is a plus
- Bridging technologies – i.e. FEA module mastery; iLogic Automation; Welding, fitting, or other manufacturing related processes; etc.
- Product related – i.e. PG/SES design processes, Vessel creation processes, etc.
