Job Summary
Mechanical Designer responsible for supporting the design and assessment of building mechanical systems and components. You will conduct heating and cooling load calculations, size and lay out ductwork and piping, create detailed 2D AutoCAD drawings and 3D Revit models, and develop tools to streamline engineering design processes. You’ll collaborate with equipment suppliers and participate in meetings with clients and contractors to support project objectives, prepare technical reports and drawings, and balance multiple tasks across projects. The role requires an in-office presence a minimum of 3 days per week and requires knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, fire and electrical systems, and relevant codes (Ontario Building Code, National Fire Code, Ontario Electrical Code). Proactive learning and strong communication are essential, as is a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
Required Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Expertise in AutoCAD 2D and Revit
- Minimum 3 years of experience in building mechanical systems engineering based on Ontario standards
- Knowledge of HVAC systems, plumbing systems, fire detection, suppression and safety systems, electrical supply and distribution systems, and lighting systems
- Familiarity with the Ontario Building Code, the National Fire Code, and the Ontario Electrical Code
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- G class driver’s license and access to own vehicle
