Job Summary
Provide mechanical design and drafting support by developing 3D models in Inventor or SolidWorks and preparing drawings for equipment, piping, and structural steel. Analyze designs of mechanical equipment and process systems while interpreting complex drawings that integrate civil, structural, and architectural requirements. Prepare material take-offs, equipment lists, and technical reports, then review project documents for quality checks prior to issue. Collaborate with vendors, clients, and stakeholders on tendering, contract administration, schedule, and budget to ensure projects meet specification. Requires 7+ years of experience in mining or heavy industrial projects.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent from an accredited university or college
- 7+ years of progressive experience as a Mechanical Designer on Mining / Heavy Industrial Projects
- Familiar with greenfield and brownfield projects
- Experience in mechanical equipment and plant layout design
- Knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and codes of practice
Desired Qualifications
- Familiar with mechanical design and analysis software like Inventor, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Navisworks is considered an asset
