Mechanical Design Manager - Water

Job Summary
Leading and coordinating multi-disciplinary teams to deliver water sector project work to quality, time, and budget; providing effective technical gatekeeping to ensure design delivery meets client requirements; communicating with clients and stakeholders to document requirements and feed back into project approach; managing project risk, scope, and change control; mentoring team members in mechanical design development; collaborating across UK and international hubs on water projects; leveraging experience in mechanical delivery and 3D/BIM delivery to drive compliant, high-quality outcomes in the UK water sector.
Required Qualifications
- A degree in mechanical engineering
- Membership of a recognised professional institution
- Chartered Engineer status or equivalent
- Demonstrable interpersonal and client-facing skills
- Experience programming design activities with other disciplines
- Broad experience in mechanical system design for the UK water sector
- Knowledge of water-based systems (pressurised water supply mains, pumping stations, treatment works)
- Experience with hydraulic modelling of pipe networks (steady state and transient)
- Knowledge of pipe supports and stress calculations
- Experience with 3D and BIM delivery
- Familiarity with Water Industry Specifications (WIMES)
- Experience applying CDM2015 regulations to design tasks
