Job Summary
Senior Mechanical Engineer leading design of extrusion presses and related industrial machinery. Responsibilities include 3D design and modeling, reverse engineering for repairs and performance optimization, collaboration with field services to troubleshoot mechanical functions, orchestrating installation and integration of machinery into client facilities, scheduling production workflows on the shop floor, coordinating implementation of new extrusion machinery, diagnosing intricate mechanical issues, serving as the main technical contact for internal and external engineering services, and managing project timelines to align with customer requirements and shop capacity. Requires 15+ years in industrial machinery design, aluminum extrusion tooling experience, a Bachelor’s in Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial Eng, SolidWorks/AutoCAD proficiency, FEA, hydraulics knowledge, and travel. Reports to President; no direct supervisory reports. Equal Opportunity Employer. 10–15% travel. 15% international travel noted in conditions.
Required Qualifications
- 15+ years of dedicated experience in industrial machinery and equipment design
- 3+ years of specific experience designing aluminum extrusion presses and associated handling equipment
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering
- Proficiency in generating precise 2D manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks or AutoCAD
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software
- Strong working knowledge of hydraulics for design and troubleshooting
- Understanding of industrial electrical systems and components
- Ability to balance independent problem-solving with teamwork
- Willingness to travel 10% to 15% domestically and internationally
