Job Summary
Design, prototype, and test electro-mechanical hardware systems for human-robot interaction, including haptic devices and exoskeletons. Create detailed CAD models and drawings for mechanical components, jigs, fixtures, and tools while utilizing 3D printing and rapid prototyping techniques to develop and validate prototypes. Collaborate with software and mechanical engineers to integrate hardware with software and mechanical designs, conducting tests and simulations to ensure functionality and reliability. Troubleshoot and resolve hardware issues throughout the product development lifecycle and prepare documentation for designs, specifications, and test procedures.
Required Qualifications
- BS, MS, or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Proven experience in hardware design and prototyping spanning both electrical and mechanical components
- Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, Onshape, or equivalent
- Experience with Arduino or similar platforms for electronic prototyping and control systems
- Familiarity with 3D printing and rapid prototyping techniques
- Strong understanding of electronic components, circuit design, and signal processing
- Experience with testing and debugging hardware systems
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with robotics, teleoperation, or digital twin systems
- Experience with human-centered considerations for robot design
- Experience with actuator and sensor design for high-performance haptic devices
- Experience with high-speed control systems including low-level firmware
