Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Summary
Produce designs for complex scanning solutions, including fabricated structures, sheet metalwork, machined components, and hydraulic systems. Create general arrangement and assembly drawings, generate bills of materials, and ensure mechanical designs support electrical and other system components. Manage Engineering Change Requests and Orders through the document control system while participating in design reviews, project kick-offs, and customer meetings. Collaborate with USA and Indian divisions to upload files into the PLM system. This role supports the Cargo and Vehicle Inspection section's product lifecycle from concept generation to continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Strong background in the creation of new design concepts for large, fabricated products
- Understanding of skills required to develop complex electro-mechanical assemblies
- SolidWorks design experience
- A working knowledge of Engineering calculations and how to apply them in practice
Desired Qualifications
- Experience of design for manufacture, with a background in a production or an operations environment
- The ability to work with other design packages such as Autodesk Inventor
- A HNC or higher in mechanical engineering
- A working knowledge of a PLM/PDM software system such as Agile
