Job Summary
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will own mechanical subsystems from concept to physical prototype in a hands-on role within Droyd's Hardware Team. Your responsibilities include designing parts in CAD, building prototypes, and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to integrate components.
Required Qualifications
- Strong portfolio showing complete systems taken from concept to physical prototype
- Experience on hands-on engineering teams such as Formula SAE, aerospace clubs, or robotics teams
- Internship or early-career experience on real hardware projects or at hardware startups
- Proficient with modern CAD tools (Onshape preferred, but not required)
- Understanding of manufacturing methods, tolerancing, and assembly workflows
- Comfortable with hands-on fabrication and rapid iteration
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with FEA, topology optimization, or generative design
- Exposure to electronics, controls, or mechatronic systems
- Interest in industrial or visual design alongside functional engineering
