Mechanical Design Engineer - Industrial Automation - Hybrid

Job Summary
Design and develop automated conveyor mechanical systems, producing concepts, technical calculations, and detailed 2D and 3D layouts. Select components such as motors, gearboxes, and structures while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on design reviews and compliance. Support manufacturing, assembly, installation, and commissioning, then provide technical support for after-sales service by diagnosing mechanical failures and implementing corrective actions. Manage multiple projects simultaneously to meet schedules and budgets, including occasional onsite work in Eastern PA and overnight travel for training and customer interventions. Requires 5+ years in mechanical design and 2+ years in technical support.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design of industrial equipment, ideally conveyors, automation, or material handling systems
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in technical support/after-sales service (diagnostics, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, recommendations, and corrective actions)
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, power transmission, and structures
- Proficiency with 3-D design software, preferably Inventor
- Experience with structured continuous improvement approach
- Proficiency in Root Cause Analysis and related tools
- Ability to perform mechanical calculations and technical analyses
- Strong communication skills with experience interfacing with customers, vendors, and internal teams
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Ability to travel to jobsites, as needed, less than 20%
