Job Summary

Create white-page designs for Form Energy's next-generation battery pack foundation, then perform structural analysis using Ansys FEA and hand calcs. Collaborate with test engineers to initiate campaigns establishing material libraries and validate designs through test/FEA correlation. Present analysis results in design reviews while conducting failure root cause analysis on systems and assemblies. Balance structural optimization with design for manufacturability, weight reduction, and cost-down for high-volume production. Travel up to 20% to other offices or vendor sites. This role supports the Structures Engineering team scaling multi-day energy storage systems at Form Factory, applying engineering rigor to develop sheet metal assemblies, weldments, and sealing systems.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 0-2 years industry experience in mechanical design
  • Completed coursework in mechanical structures design fundamentals
  • Theory of FEA for structural analysis
  • Experience with computer-aided design (CAD), specifically SolidWorks modeling
  • Sense of urgency and self-driven to hit difficult schedule targets
  • Travel up to 20% to other Form Energy offices or vendor sites

Desired Qualifications

  • Preferred experience with 2D drafting using GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
