Mechanical Design Engineer II in the Electrical Hardware Development team at MTS Systems. Responsible for system cable and controller chassis design, build and test, prototyping, and generating manufacturing documentation (assembly drawings, BOMs). Requires a Bachelor's degree in mechanical or industrial engineering, 2+ years of SolidWorks experience, hands-on prototyping ability, and Python for test automation/data analysis. Preferred skills include AutoCAD or Altium, schematics/datasheet reading, and DoE. Based in Eden Prairie, MN, this full-time role may involve travel and is part of a global organization focused on high-performance motion control and precision data acquisition.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering or related field
- 2+ years of experience using SolidWorks for mechanical design and 3D modeling
- Hands-on experience with building mechanical prototypes
- Proficiency in Python for test automation and data analysis
- Preferred: AutoCAD or Altium, reading schematics and datasheets, experience with Test Method Validation and DoE
